A very important test for me personally, and I think for many other photographers – 35mm focal distance is an over-demanded and a good understanding of “who’s the best” can help to make a correct choice of a lens.

Minolta New-MD 35mm F1.8 can be alone in a photographer’s lens set, and it would be enough for everything.
One of the tested copies is waiting for the re-lubrication of the helicoid, but I’m sure this fact can’t affect the sharpness/resolution.

Canon FDn 35mm 1:2.0 vs Minolta MD 35mm 1:1.8 – comparison
The 35mm focal distance is in second place after ‘fifties’ by popularity and it makes the fighting for ‘the best 35mm lens’ award is very important. Additionally, this pair of fast 35mm – Minolta MD and Canon FDn – are very well known as great performers and have a legendary status lenses. It’s strange to me that I can’t find head-to-head comparisons on the internet. So, let’s do it.

I could never make a choice on one of the two lenses – New MD 35/1.8 or New MD 35/2.8. To be honest, this comparison does not help either – they are both the best.

Minolta MD 35mm 1:1.8 – vintage manual lens test and review
There are no sensations in this review because even before the tests it was known that this is one of the best lenses in the world. The very famous model, even fans of the other labels prefer to get one if nobody can spot it.
